AT Clinic Travel Support

The AT Society understands that attending specialist AT clinic appointments can be challenging for some families. We are committed to helping people affected by AT access the care and support they need and, where appropriate, may be able to assist with travel and accommodation.

As a small charity, we rely on donations to fund much of this support and aim to use these funds fairly so help remains available to as many families as possible.

How We May Be Able to Help

Support is considered on an individual basis and may include:

  • Advice on the most suitable travel options
  • Train bookings and funding
  • Taxi transport where there is a demonstrated need
  • Overnight accommodation (agreed in advance)
  • Help towards flight costs where appropriate
  • Information and guidance about attending clinic

Please contact Support at [email protected]

Travel Arrangements

We recognise that every family’s circumstances are different. Travel arrangements may take into account factors such as mobility needs, wheelchair use, fatigue, medical equipment, luggage, and travelling with children or multiple family members.

We will work with you to identify the safest and most appropriate option.

Taxi Travel

Taxi transport can be essential for some families but is often the most expensive and complex form of support we provide. Arranging taxis may involve sourcing quotes, coordinating appointment times, confirming accessibility requirements, and organising long-distance journeys.

To help us arrange support, please provide as much notice as possible.

Changes and Cancellations

If your circumstances change, please let us know as soon as possible. Once travel or accommodation has been booked, changes may result in cancellation fees, additional costs, or delays in arranging alternatives.

We will always take a compassionate and flexible approach where illness, medical issues, or emergencies are involved.

Making the Best Use of Charitable Funds

Travel support is funded by donors and fundraisers. We ask families to help us use these limited funds responsibly by:

  • Requesting support only where needed
  • Providing accurate travel information
  • Informing us promptly of changes
  • Giving as much notice as possible for cancellations

Please note that support is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and previous travel arrangements do not guarantee the same support for future appointments.

Please do not fill out the information below unless Support has already assisted you with travel.
