Five Ways to Wellbeing
Those of you who attended our activity and family weekend events in 2019 will be familiar with the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ framework. But for those of you new to it, here’s a brief overview of it’s origins and philosophy.
The framework was developed by the New Economics Foundation using evidence gathered from a ‘wellbeing through the lifespan’ project, commissioned by the UK government in 2008.
It is a set of five evidence-based actions, which aim to promote people’s overall physical and mental health. These actions or activities are simple things individuals can do in their everyday lives to improve their sense of wellness.
The five ways framework has been used by health organisations, schools and community projects across the UK and around the world as a way to help people take action to improve their wellbeing.
