EMILY
My name is Emily Chanter and I live in Bristol at the moment. I have lived here for about a year.
I employ my own P.A. (Personal Assistant) to go shopping and to the cinema sometimes.
I was diagnosed with A-T when I was about 14. I went to Lord Mayor Treloar School and College from 1991-1999. I lived on my own in a flat for a while, then moved to live semi-independently in a bungalow in Bracklesham near Chichester with two other people and various carers and volunteers. Then for three years I was an apprentice at The Orpheus Trust in Surrey (www.orpheus.org.uk), a centre for performing arts. During my time there I had some great experiences including writing plays and songs, and also performing at St Paul’s Cathedral and the Royal Opera House. I enjoy dancing most of all.
I have enrolled on a dance course, which is every Wednesday morning. I enjoy that!
I also like holidays! I try to go on Vitalise holidays each year, usually with a friend.
I met my long-term friend Catherine, who also has A-T, at LMTC and we phone and text each other regularly.
